Reducing the use of herbicides with a novel approach
The aim of this project, with generous support from Melbourne Water, was to reduce the biomass of blackberry using goats, before going in with conventional spraying.
In what we believe was a first of its kind attempt in such difficult terrain and high risk location, the blackberry and other weeds were brought under control over 3 years, starting in 2021.

Of course this area will need constant monitoring, but we have acted to halt the spread of weeds and will look at revegetation next.
